STRENGTH

When tenants organize, they win. All over the world tenants are organizing to make demands and winning those demands. Why? Because when we work together we combine our power to make change.

Why Organize?

Because despite worsening conditions rent prices in Chicago, and nationwide, are on the rise. 

Why? 

Because LANDLORDS don’t care.

And the only way to put a stop to this is using our collective power to fight back! 

Because there are more of US than there are of them.

THE MISSION OF CUT

Chicago Union of Tenants is a citywide union dedicated to building power among working-class tenants—especially those of diverse backgrounds—to resist the self-interested landlord class. We empower tenants to hold landlords accountable through collective action and the establishment of building level unions. We believe all tenants deserve housing that is sustainable, high quality, democratically controlled, provides universal access, and is redistributed from landlords. We work to create those communities through organizing tenants building by building, block by block, throughout Chicago.
